Farmer, and experience the perils of being a farmer in the third world
Being a farmer anywhere in the world in tough, but no more so than in the third or developing world where your average farmer already lives on under 60p a day and simply cannot afford the resources available to farmers in better developed communities, like access to safe water for irrigation. The third world farmer barely has enough money to buy seeds and, with ever increasing droughts, each season is make or break, and break leads to malnutrition and even starvation.
This third world farmer game, brought to you from ArcadeFunhouse, allows you to explore what it is like to be a third world farmer, with a bit of humour along the way. Its a relatively easy game to play. You start off with a certain amount of money with which you can buy seeds and animals. If you have a successful harvest you can use your profits to buy wells, sheds etc and hopefully increase your yield and income year by year. But, of course, its not that simple. After you have planted your crops and wait to see how the harvest unfolds, you might be hit by drought or disease, wiping out all your hard efforts.
Its possible that you can survive if this happens occasionally, however some of your family may be forced to leave your farm to find work elsewhere to support themselves and two seasons in a row is going to probably wipe you out. And being wiped out in the third world doesn't mean going out of business and claiming benefits, it means probable starvation and death. In fact 24,000 people starve to death in Africa every day.
