This Egyptian pyramid webcam provides some stunning views of the pyramids of Menkaure, Khafre and Khufu on the Giza plateau in Egypt. It is believed each pyramid was built some 4500 years ago during the fourth dynasty period of Egyptian history to protect the body of the departed king and allow his transformation and ascension to the afterlife, and a place among the gods, reflecting the promoted belief that the kings were manifestations of the god Horus. Unfortunately the recent troubles in Egypt have meant that the pyramid webcam is temporarily switched off and it is likely to remain so until stability has been restored after the forthcoming elections.
