Make a virtual landing at Ivato International Airport some eleven miles outside Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar in this video.

The airport serves as both a civilian and military airport and services flights from Air Austral, Air France, Air Mauritius, Comoros Aviation, Corsairfly, Kenya Airways, South African Airways, and, of course, Air Madagascar.

The airport is undergoing a ten year transformation plan which will extend the main runway and see the building of a second runway and a new terminal building.

The airport services Madagascar's capital city of Antananarivo which is home to around a million residents, a city founded in 1625 by King Andrianjaka and named after the number of soldiers assigned to guard it 'The City of the Thousand'.
