Liberia Today
Our profile pages of Liberia have understandably focussed on the past, particularly the fourteen year long civil war that tore the country apart, and set neighbour upon neighbour, child on child and fractured the economy and the country's infrastructure. The damage that war caused can't just be measured in Liberian dollars but in the fact that all teenage children in the country have seen family members killed, children beaten to death and even abused by UN peacekeepers themselves.
To repair all of this damage, in what is already one of the world's poorest countries, is going to take more than a generation, a generation of healing. Yet many of the issues that erupted into civil war have never effectively been addressed and many feel that further internal conflict is inevitable, inflamed by conflict on the country's borders with its neighbours.
This video attempts to show how some young people, the voice of tomorrow, are coming to terms with the past, and their aspirations for Liberia's future. Below we provide headline of events in Liberia today.
