Ethiopian Travel ~ Ethiopian Travel Expedition

Ethiopian Travel

Ethiopia, which is slightly smaller in size than the UK and France put together, is located in north-eastern Africa and shares borders with Eritrea in the north, Kenya to the south, Somalia and Djibouti to its east, and Sudan to the west.

This page is about travel in Ethiopia with the aim of debunking the myth that Ethiopia is a land of famine. It is not, although chronic food shortages and droughts still occur.

In fact Ethiopia has one of the fasting growing economies in the world and is the largest economy in the East of Africa.

When you travel to Ethiopia to explore its rich culture and heritage, avoid coming into the country via Eritrea, Somalia, Kenya and the Sudan as the borders can be dangerous and some are permanently closed. Instead come in by air and land at Addis Ababa airport.

Ethiopia has its own time system and is 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, and a calendar that runs seven to eight years behind the Gregorian Calendar, so you really can step back in time!

Explore the lowlands of south west Ethiopia, the Bale Mountains National Park with its unique blend of wildlife and the Simien Mountains National Park for trekking opportunities.
